Special Attention Database
The Special Attention Database allows you to store a client’s information that you may want to consider before you prepare their tax return. The database will send you notifications of anything that may require your attention when you open and/or exit a return. For instance, you may be notified on whether the taxpayer has a balance due from the previous year. As you install the present year program, the entries in the Special Attention Database pull forward from the prior year.
To access the Special Attention Database:
- Go to the Taxx Savage Pro Quick Menu
- From the menu, select Configuration
- Proceed to Advanced Configuration (Macros)
- Select Special Attention Database - Select New to create an entry. Key in the name of the client, their 9-digit SSN or EIN, after which you will be led to a page that enables you to enter a message. For instance, in case you are owed money for the preparation of the previous year’s return by your client, you can create a message in relation to their balance due.
There are three available check boxes:
- Show Entering Return - This box is checked so that the message is displayed when the return is opened
- Show Exiting Return - this box is checked so that the message shows when exiting the return
- Return Paid - this box is checked to show whether the return was paid. This box is very useful in the event that the message has multiple notes including one for payment, the preparer will be able to know the balance of the client has been offset and thus ignore the note.
Should you wish to delete an entry from the database, click on the record you’d ;like deleted, then from the resultant menu, click Delete.
Note: Special Attention Messages are different from and in addition to return notes.
