MACRO (Most Common) Setup
When entering tax returns, using MACROs will save you keystrokes. In the event that you used Taxx Savage Pro in the prior tax year, you will be prompted to pull your MCROs forward as you install the current year program. To create or edit a MACRO entry:
- Go to the Main Menu of Taxx Savage Pro
- From the menu, select Configuration
- Proceed to Advanced Configuration (Macros)
- Select MACRO (Most Common) Setup
Default State on W-2s and 1099-Rs - key in the default state to be chosen in the State section of Form W-2 and Form 1099-R entry pages. Time is saved by this, in the event that most of the W-2s and 1099-Rs entered are from one state. In case a withholding is from another state, you can manually alter the state displayed on the W-2 or 1099-R input. Note: Ensure that you remove the state in case there isn’t a state withholding on W-2, to avoid an e-file rejection.
Default Locality on W-2s and 1099-Rs - Key in the default locality that is to be included in the Locality field of Form W-2 and Form 1099-R entry screens. In the event that the majority of the W-2s and 1099-Rs entered have the same locality information, doing this will save entry time. Manual alteration of the locality indicated on the W-2 or 1099-R is possible.
Note: Ensure that you remove the locality in case there is no locality withholding on a W-2 so as to avoid an e-file rejection.
Keystrokes in the return will be saved if these items are entered here. Typographical errors will also be prevented. Information will populate on these lists as you create the returns:
- W-2 Employers/1099R Payers
- Interest/Dividend Payers
- K-1 Entities
- Charitable Organizations
- Child Care Providers
- Banks
You can pull forward the previous year’s lists in the event that a list is blank and Taxx Savage Pro information from the previous year is on the same computer. Click on the Other button while in the menu for the specific macro list , then select the Pull command in the following menu.
Print MACRO’s - This option allows you to print out the list of macros for the entries above.
Phone Descriptions - Unique names may be assigned to three phone numbers appearing in the Personal Information menu in a return. For instance, Home, Office, and Cell. The Client Form Listing Summary that is printed with the return also has these names.
State Locality Menu - certain states have locality taxes and wages withheld on Form W-2s. Since a majority of states do not require locality information, the Taxx Savage Pro by default, skips over the locality fields. On the locality information section of Form W-2 entry page, choose the states that you would want the program not to skip over.
Depreciation Categories - Asset categories to be allocated to assets as you use the Depreciation Module in Schedules C, E, and F, can be created here. By allocating assets to categories, you will be able to easily organize the depreciation schedules.
Return Status Tags - you can create tags used to organize returns in the Client List here. The tags are assigned to the returns in the Receipt Menu upon exiting the return, and are displayed in the Return Tags column in the Client List.
Referral Options - Referral tags used by the referrer to track returns, can be created here. Assigning of the return is done in the Receipt Menu after exiting the return, and a report that lists the returns by referral tag are able to be printed from the Reports Menu.
