Desktop: How To Update Your EFIN

The first step after receiving a new EFIN from the IRS is notifying Taxx Savage  Pro through sending a copy of the IRS EFIN Acceptance Letter in PDF format or the same communication you received from IRS e-Services Account through cs@@taxxsavage .com.

After that you should update your Taxx Savage  Pro configuration and any returns marked for e-file not yet filed with the new EFIN.

Note: Never transmit any returns before receiving a confirmation that the new EFIN has been updated into the system.

Configuration Changes

Transmitters EFIN. Go to the Quick Menu in Taxx Savage  Pro and select:
Configuration
Electronic Filing/ Bank Setup
Transmitters EFIN

ERO Information. Go to the Quick Menu in Taxx Savage  Pro and select:
Configuration
Firm/ ERO/ Preparer Setup
ERO(s) Menu- click the obsolete EFIN then select EDIT, input the new EFIN in the Firm EFIN.

Firm Information. Go to the Quick Menu in Taxx Savage  Pro and select:
Configuration
Firm/ ERO/ Preparer Setup
Firm Information
Firm EFIN

The system will prompt you with ``Do You Want to Replace All Preparer Information with the Firm that was Just Entered?`` immediately after you exit the Firm Information. Select either Yes or No.

  • Selecting Yes will ensure that all the preparer records having the same firm name, address, phone, fax, EFIN, and firm`s EIN is updated. This is the most suitable response if all the preparers have or ought to have same firm information.
  • Selecting No is suitable for those who have preparers with distinct firm information in their records. This response maintains the preparer`s information and the EFIN necessitating updating every preparer`s record separately.

Preparer Information. The following step is only relevant if you chose No in Step 3. Should that be the case, go to the Quick Menu of Taxx Savage  Pro and select:
  •  Configuration
  •   Firm/ ERO/ Preparer Setup
  •   Preparer(s) Menu-select the preparer record then click EDIT
  •   Change Firm Information-Select NO if you are prompted to change all firm information.
  • EFIN- click on it and key in the new EFIN.

After completing this process you should also update the EFIN in the return;

  •  Marked for e-filing and not yet transmitted
  •  Transmitted waiting for amendment before e-filing again
  •  Having a federal return already transmitted without state`s transmission.

You should go back to the transmission table and confirm the EFIN for every return listed. If you find any return that has not been updated, follow the ``Tax Return Changes`` steps highlighted above to update them.
