Preparer Security

In Taxx Savage is started, you will be asked to log in using a username and a password. The Taxx Savage has two kinds of users:

  • ADMIN - This is the short form for Administrator. The first password created as you install the software is the ADMIN password. The ADMIN user is able to work in all menus except for preparing returns.
  • Users - Every user has a different user name and varying degrees of security clearance, as set by the Administrator or a user with a security role of unlimited.

Note: In case you are using Taxx Savage Pro in a networked environment that has multiple computers preparing tax returns, only the computer designated as the file server can be used to configure preparer information.

Every preparer owns a username and password that are specified in the Preparer Security, and they are assigned security roles that either permit or restrict them to certain menus. To access Preparer Security:

  • Go to the Main Menu of Taxx Savage Pro
  • From the menu, select Configuration
  • Proceed to Firm/ERO/Preparer Setup
  • Select Preparer(s) Menu - Choose the preparer who you would like to edit
  • Then go to Preparer Security
    • Line 3 - The default security role is set as Super User. if you want, you can select this line to change the role. There are three preset security roles, each having varying levels of restriction. You can also create your own custom security roles, should you wish to do so. For more information on security roles, click here.
    • Lines 4-22 - the default access for every program menu is preset based on the chosen security role, however, you can modify them as you so wish. Change the menu items you would like to restrict to NO. as for the office manager or ERO’s login account, all options should be set to YES.
    • The changes take effect on the preparer’s next login.
