Other Income Menu

What is in the Other Income Menu? 

You will find the following in the Other Income Menu: 

Other Income 


This line is used to report income that is subject to tax that has not been reported elsewhere in the return. Such income may be prizes and awards, Alaska Permanent Fund dividends, jury duty pay, and reimbursements for items deducted in the prior year. For other examples of income to include in this line, see IRS Publication 525 and Form 1040 Instructions

To enter Other Income amount; 

  • Select New 
  • Enter a description 
  • Then enter the amount 
  • Finally, indicate whether the income is regarded as earned income or not. 

Form 1099-MISC Other Income 

This amount will be pulled from box 3 of Form 1099-MISC, that was not linked to either Schedule C, E or F. 

Income from Forms 6478, 8814, 8853, 8864 & 8889 

The amounts that were entered on these forms will be automatically pulled by the program. 

Section 933 Excluded Income from Puerto Rico 

According to IRC Section 933, a citizen of the US that is a bona fide resident of Puerto Rico during the whole taxable year is should file US iIncome tax if; 

  • They receive income whose sources are not within Puerto Rico 
  • They earn income as military or civilian employees of the Government of the US in Puerto Rico. 

Income from Puerto Rican sources is not taxable by the US. It is however mandatory that the return have both the exempt and non-exempt income and allocate a portion of the standard deduction or the itemized deductions to the exempt income. Check out IRS Publication 1321 form information on how to calculate the allocation and how to determine whether a return must be filed.

Medicaid Waiver Payments included on Form W-2 Box 1

This amount is pulled by the program from Form W-2, box e. For more information on the same, check out Medicaid Waiver Payments - Notice 2014-7
