How Can I Mask / Hide the SSNs in the Client List?
On the client list in the main office, all client information is displayed including their SSN. The SSN digits may be masked or hidden by either editing a security template that already exists or creating a new security template then unmarking the View Full SSN option. This will hide a client’s first five SSN digits.
Security templates are available in the configuration section of ProWeb's main page.
Using an Existing Template
Click EDIT on an existing security template; there will be a “View Full SSN” option with a checkbox beside it. Unmark the checkbox to hide part of the SSN:
The preparers on the edited template will have part of their SSNs hidden when they log into the program. As for those who were logged in as the change was being made, they will have to log out then log in to experience the change.
Creating a New Template
On ProWeb:
- Go to the configuration page then select the security template option.
- Select ADD SECURITY TEMPLATE
- Name the new template
- Uncheck the option View Full SSN
- Click on CONTINUE
Once created, go to the security template and select +ASSIGN to have your preparers assigned to the template. Choose the preparers you would like assigned to the template then click CONTINUE.
The preparers on this template will have part of their SSNs hidden when they log into the program. As for those who were logged in as the change was being made, they will have to log out then log in to experience the change.
