Desktop: Entering / Editing Company Information

The information about the firm and its preparers is stored in the Company Setup Menu. Both Admins and users with the security role of ``Unlimited`` can access the menu in Taxx Savage  Pro. You can access this menu from the Main Menu by selecting:

  • Configuration
  •  Firm/ ERO/ Preparer Setup

Firm Information

The Firm Information Menu stores all the firm's information that appears at the bottom of Form 1040 after printing. You can edit any information through the Firm Information Setup Menu by selecting them and entering the right information. Always leave the field for Group Code blank unless advised by the Technical Support Group.

The system will provide you with Do You Want to Replace all Preparer Information with the Firm Information that was Just Entered? immediately after exiting the menu. Always select YES for this question unless you do not want the firm's information in the Preparer database updated. Selecting NO will prevent the firm information by preparers from another firm or ERO from being overwritten.

Note: The revised firm information does not automatically update the present tax returns. You will thus need to reenter the preparer code in the tax return to update tax returns in-process with the revised firm information.

ERO(s) Menu

The ERO is the individual whose name is connected to the EFIN assigned and in most cases is the company owner. The system always prompts one to key in the ERO during the first program configuration. Even though the ERO is in most occasions similar to the Firm Information due to the initial creation, it should be verified for the purposes of accuracy.

Suppose you lack an EFIN but intend to e-file returns, ensure that you go back to the Firm Information menu and the ERO menu to enter the EFIN upon receiving it.

Moreover, ensure you enter all the information for every EFIN in the ERO(s) Menu. Suppose you intend to transmit using several EFINs.

Preparer(s) Menu

In this menu you can edit, add or delete the preparers in the program. Suppose you want to add a preparer, begin by assigning them a number from 1 to 999999. Enter their SSN then their PTIN. The PTIN has nine characters; eight digits preceded by P. Thereafter key in the preparer`s first name, last name and their usernames to log in. Suppose the preparer is self-employed and ensures you check the checkbox indicating this feature. Select OK to complete.

Note: Every agent enrolled and anyone compensated to prepare substantial or all tax returns are mandated to acquire a PTIN form the IRS.

There are three preset security roles; Return Preparer, Super User and Unlimited. Return Preparer is the most restricted while Unlimited lacks restrictions. You are allowed to make other security roles and customize them to control the preparer`s access to each menu or function in the office.

Note: Once a preparer is added in the Preparer`s Menu they are assigned a default Super User security role. You are able to change this in the Preparer Security menu or modify the individual security settings.
