Require DD & EM Returns to be paid before Transmitting?

DD refers to refunding through direct deposit while EM refers to refunding through check. The non-bank product completed returns cannot be pulled into the Transmission Table cannot until after full payment if this is set to YES.

Ask Why Preparer Fee is Less Than That Calculated?

Setting this to YES would prompt the preparer to give a reason why the preparer fee in the Receipt Menu is below the calculated fee.

Ask Why a Return Was Done for Free?

 The preparer will be prompted to give a reason why the return is done at no charge if this is set to YES.

Take the > of Last Year Free *0% & Current Fee

Click on this and key in the number desired that will represent the percentage to increment previous year`s fee for the purposes of comparison. The fee charged will be higher of the current year`s or previous year`s increment by the percentage and rounded up for every return. You will then be required to select the Preparation Fee line found in the Receipt Menu for updating the fees after this configuration is set.

Do DD and EM returns for free?

The returns with no bank product and no preparation fee will be recorded in the E-file Transmission Table if this is set to Yes.

Require Authorization Code for Fee Change?

You can create an authorization password that has to be entered by the preparer to reduce the fees on a return.

Generate Sales Tax on Preparer Fee

This is only relevant if needed in your state. Should that be the case key in the sales tax rate for the sales tax you intend to calculate on the preparation fees and included in the invoice.

Default Discount Percent

After exiting a return go to the Receipt Menu and enter the default dollar discount to populate for the purposes of generating a discount to a client. You could also change it on a return if needed.

Display Last Year`s fee at the Receipt Menu

You can display the previous year`s fee  in the Receipt Menu for reference.

Display Additional Fees in E-file Menu

You can select Yes to display or No to hide the fees next to each bank product option as you mark a return for e-filing.

Display Preparer Fee on 1040 Menu

Having this setting at Yes will display in a 1040 at the top of the main window, the current fee calculated per the fees configured in the Fee Setup Menu.
